Supporting the City strategy through department workshops
On March 26, the Utility Systems Department( USD) gathered at The Saints Golf Club for a strategic planning workshop focused on reflecting on the past year, assessing performance and shaping the path ahead.
The session provided USD leadership team with dedicated time to evaluate where the department is headed and how each member can help drive that direction.
The workshop began with a review of the past year’ s accomplishments, followed by a discussion on how USD aligns with the City’ s FY 2025-26 Strategic Plan. Through conversations about strengths, challenges and emerging opportunities, the team identified areas where their work can continue to deliver meaningful impact for residents and the City organization.
Participants analyzed performance measures, explored innovative“ How Might We” ideas and tackled key topics such as growing team capacity, improving processes and technology and enhancing internal and external communications.
The group also collaborated to set short and long‐term priorities and identified champions to lead the most promising initiatives forward.
By the end of the workshop, the team left with renewed clarity, focus and momentum. The day served not only as a strategic planning effort but also as an opportunity to reconnect with purpose, celebrate strengths and reinforce USD’ s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
