APWA celebrates Summer Burdick ' s service
Congratulations to Accreditation & Performance Manager Summer Burdick for winning the American Public Works Association( APWA) Florida Chapter’ s Young Leader Award!
This award recognizes young APWA members who have demonstrated an initial commitment to the profession and shown potential for future growth with the association. It also promotes the concept that the length of a career does not necessarily indicate leadership abilities or potential for service.
Summer will be recognized April 30 at the APWA Florida Chapter 2025 Public Works Expo in Orlando.
Assistant Manager of Community Outreach Jenny Tomes also was invited to the Public Works Expo as a breakout session speaker to present her topic,“ From Outreach Manager to Superhero, Bringing Your Story to Life— Literally,” which focuses on her Water Woman education program. Jenny will present April 29.
Keeping Port St. Lucie beautiful— and our sewer system safe!
The City of Port St. Lucie held its first Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day event of the year March 1 and had an incredible turnout.
Special thanks to Assistant Manager of Industrial Pretreatment & Environmental Compliance Kevin Palmer from the Utility Systems Department for spearheading our partnership with Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful to collect used cooking oil at its bi-annual Household Hazard Waste Collection events.
Kevin collected 500 pounds at the March event, for a total of 2,913 pounds collected since the partnership began in 2020. Thank you, Kevin, for your efforts to protect our sewer system!
