Public Works attends vendor outreach expo
Michelle Lanchez, manager for Public Works Finance, and Lillian Boles-Rees, project manager for Sales Tax, attended the City of Port St. Lucie ' s Vendor Outreach Expo on March 28 at the Community Center. It was hosted by the Procurement Division. The event was designed to connect vendors with opportunities to partner with the City. Public Works talked to vendors about opportunities within the department and helped provide information on the procurement and invoicing.
Public Works oversees City resources that manage the planning, design, construction and maintenance of City infrastructure and various facilities. This includes roads and bridges, water quality and drainage, traffic operations, landscaping and emergency management.
Public art meeting with artist for Floresta roundabout
Public Works is overseeing the construction of the Floresta Drive Improvement Project Phase 2, which is nearing completion. As part of this project, an oval-about was constructed near Floresta Elementary School. In collaboration with Planning and Zoning, Public Works identified an opportunity to incorporate art into the oval-about. Floresta Elementary, home to the Dolphins, is the inspiration behind the artwork as the City aimed to create a beautiful feature for the area and the community.
A call for artists was made, and Peter Busby was chosen for his dolphin design. Bethany Grubbs from Planning and Zoning and Thomas Salvador from Public Works collaborated with the artist to discuss the installation and timeline. The new artwork is expected to be installed in the summer.
