February 26-28 Winter Workshop tackles top priorities
Each year , the Mayor , City Council and City team dedicate the Winter Workshop to receiving in-depth presentations on City priorities in preparation for the upcoming Strategic Planning session and the development of the annual budget . This year ’ s workshop included a series of dynamic presentations that helped Council receive vital updates on emerging policy issues that are data-driven and focused on improving services for residents . Topics focused on in this year ’ s workshop included :
• An economic outlook from economist Brad Hunter
• A Capital Projects Update from Public Works , Utility Systems , Facilities and Parks & Recreation
• Presentation on department priorities , including the City ’ s updated Civic Engagement Strategy
• Updates from Indian River State College and St . Lucie Public Schools
• Parks and Recreation 10-Year Master Plan
• The Police Department ’ s Growth & Development Plan as we remain the safest large city in Florida
• An update on recognized users
• A first look at the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget
• Presentations from the Council on Aging on the needs of seniors , a new Strategic Plan priority and an update on the Community Redevelopment Agency ’ s Projects and the Economic Development Council ’ s incentive strategies
Through the roundtable discussion at the workshop , staff received direction and Council gained greater insights into areas they will consider prioritizing for the upcoming year .
