New trails coming soon to The Port District
The Port Preserve Trails at Pioneer Park are nearing completion, with the project on track to be finished by the end of February. The City is planning a ribbon-cutting during the first week of March to mark the opening of the new trail system.
The trail network provides scenic walkways through the preserve and features a mix of boardwalks, concrete trail and stabilized surface paths designed to enhance accessibility and connectivity. The project includes a 10-foot-wide boardwalk with wooden handrails totaling approximately 260 feet, along with approximately 2,200 feet of upland stabilized trail, creating about 0.52 miles of continuous trail.
The Port Preserve Trails can be accessed from Pioneer Park, the sidewalk along Westmoreland Boulevard and two new connections to the existing boardwalk along the St. Lucie River. Benches and trash receptacles will be installed throughout the trail system to improve visitor comfort and usability.
Once the nearby dining opens, the trails will offer a pleasant place for visitors to take a walk after dining.
Pancakes with Santa a festive time for participants
Pancakes with Santa was held Dec. 19 at the Community Center. Children enjoyed a festive morning filled with breakfast, crafts and a singalong with our Monday Mornings Music Together instructor, Jen. They also had the chance to meet the big guy in the red suit and take a keepsake photo to cherish forever. www. PSLParks. com
