O G O T Y A W A I N A V L Y S N N PE How will your family spend the weekend? Catching up with home chores, rushing between team practices, waiting in line at the mall? Or taking time to enjoy new experiences together? Regular short breaks from overscheduled lives benefit both adults and children, health and wellness experts agree. Many recommend weekend mini-vacations as a great way to relax and recharge. But how can you get away more often without runaway travel costs becoming yet another source of stress? Spend a weekend, not a fortune – go RVing! Vacation Cost Comparison A recent study for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) by tourism research firm PKF Consulting USA points the way to family vacation savings. The study found that on average, a family of four traveling in their RV spends 27 to 62 percent less per day than a family taking another kind of vacation – even including the cost of RV ownership. From folding camping trailers to motorhomes, every type of RV offers an economic advantage over driving a car or flying, staying in hotels and dining in restaurants. Owners agree that going by RV saves them money. In a summer 2015 RVIA/ Cvent poll, 82 percent said they planned to use their RV more because they could vacation for less. More than half (57 percent) said they save 35 percent or more when they go by RV. The numbers show what RVers know: buying a recreation vehicle is a longterm investment that pays big travel dividends for years to come. R AVEL T S E I L I M A F HOW C AN D LESS?
