Exton Bypass Byway Chester County This stretch of U.S. Route 30 – the historic Lincoln Highway – winds through the picturesque Brandywine Valley. Scenic vistas connect interesting towns with eclectic art galleries and attractions such as the QVC Studio in Governor Casey Byway Lackawanna County This stretch of Route 6 traverses the historic Lackawanna River Valley near Scranton. Stop at the Steamtown Historic Site to see early examples of massive steam locomotives in action (seasonal train rides available). Or, board a refurbished 28-passenger mine car for a 300-foot trip below ground to the 1860 Lackawanna Coal Mine. Grand View Byway City of Pittsburgh Drive up the historic McArdle Roadway for a “Grand View” of the City of Pittsburgh. From atop Mt. Washington, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of downtown’s Golden Triangle, where the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers meet to form the mighty Ohio. You’ll see why USA Today named this one of the 10 Most Beautiful Places in America. High Plateau Byway Clinton and Centre Counties This 27-mile byway spans the top of the Allegheny, offering panoramic views of the Sproul State Forest. Plentiful deer, bear and elk roam the region. Get out your camera for great West Chester, home of the multimedia retailing giant. West Chester is also home to the American Helicopter Museum, with over 35 helicopters on display. Gateway to the Endless Mountains Byway Wyoming County Named one of America’s most scenic drives by National Geographic Magazine, these sections of Route 6 near Tunkhannock offer lovely Susquehanna River views plus quaint towns. Bring your gear for hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing and fishing in the area, or stroll through the intriguing shops of Tunkhannock. Pennsylvania | 2016 Mercer County Only 6.4 miles long, the Lake Wilhelm Scenic Byway is one of the state’s shortest – but it’s long on opportunities for outdoor fun. The byway skirts part of a paved 12.5 mile bike trail surrounding the 1,860-acre lake in Maurice Goddard State Park. Photographers, birders and hikers will enjoy the views from an observation deck near the marina. Picnic pavilions and hiking trails also abound. Laurel Highlands Byway Westmoreland and Fayette Counties Nature inspires manmade beauty in the Laurel Highlands, home to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterworks, Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. Stop at Ohiopyle State Park for a closer look at the area’s sparkling waterfalls. Nearby is Pennsylvania’s largest cave, Laurel shots from Two Run Rock Vista and Fish Dam Run Vista.
