Athletic Director Ted Leason says the winning tradition of the volleyball team spurs a pride for the school that spreads throughout other athletic programs . “ The girls set a standard , an expectation for winning that everyone else wants to match .”

Another contributing factor to the building of a dynasty can be described as “ family .” The coaches , volunteers , and students blend together pursing the same goal and sharing a similar purpose . Coach Terri Purichia , also a Providence graduate , brings 25 seasons of experience to the leadership of this unique family .

Staggers and Assistant Coaches Brandy Denning , Ryan Neal , and Charly Neal - share a love for the game , a love for the girls , and an appreciation and love for Providence High School . Several members of the staff are also Providence graduates .
Sarah Carver , assistant principal and parent of Reese Carver , has experienced the family atmosphere of the team from a couple of perspectives . “ These past two years have provided an incredible journey . The love that Coach Purichia and the other coaches have for these girls and they in turn for them is just unreal . It is a family here , it really is . These girls are together so much , it feels like it just keeps on going and going . They love being together . Even if they ’ re not on the court together , they ’ re still together .”
Carver continued , “ One of the things we try to do at Providence is prepare the entire person to be successful in life , not just their academics and not just their athletics . We want to help them grow in their leadership , in their emotional stability , and in their faith . Part of that comes from supporting each other in their pursuits . These students model that every day .”

The structure and atmosphere of a program means very little unless the students can embrace the ideas and whole-heartedly support them . This year ’ s team had ten seniors who understood the tradition and what it takes to make a championship run . Each year the seniors help shape the direction and look of the team ’ s preparation and execution .
