Unbreakable
By: A. Russo
A vast genocide
Six million lives lost
Taken by cold hands without a choice
Even the loudest cries remained unheard.
How? Why?
How could a world be so silent?
So soaked in oblivion
How was the air so filled with hatred?
Why was Hitler’s power so unstoppable?
Faith tearing apart a nation.
Some souls lost hope
No one can blame them
Some tried to stay strong,
Not only for the sake of themselves,
But to give hope to the young.
Waking up to the feelings of rage
When there is nothing they could do.
Being pushed until the sun went down
With very little food.
The meals that were once satisfying,
Suddenly felt tasteless.
Through thick and thin,
One thing couldn’t be taken.
The religion remained the same.
The beliefs were still in their hearts
The faith couldn’t be broken.
Once it was over,
The lost loved ones and experiences left a scar-
The freedom they longed for so deeply
Was finally there--
But how could one forgive?
