Cooperative Proofreading Directions Assign proofreaders’ roles: A. B. C. D. spelling checker capitalization checker punctuation checker sentence meaning checker (including word usage) Students check this area only on all papers. 1. Assign a standard colored marker to each proofreader. (Students may want to wear job title badges of the same color as their marker.) 2. Students mark possible errors on all papers including their own. 3. Once papers have been written, they are passed clockwise until all compositions have been checked by every team member. 4. Each writer then has the opportunity to discuss corrections with the entire team. 5. Writers correct and publish. 6. Rotate proofreading jobs each time the class participates in a writing session.
