Background and Selection Procedures
Congratulations! You have been selected to serve on the scholarship selection committee.
I want to thank you for agreeing to take on this very important assignment. We ask you to
use your professional judgment in identifying the most deserving young man or woman
from among the finest students in our state. As you know, the goal of the Teacher Cadet
Program is to attract the “best and brightest” students into teaching, especially students of
color and males.
Our criteria for selecting the scholarship winner remain the same as in previous years:

I am sure you will be fair in your discussions and consideration of each student. The fund
does not specify how the money must be spent as long as it is used to cover the expenses
of earning a college degree from an accredited college.
