A Multi-Media Show about College
What is a Multi-Media Show?
In the broadest sense, a multi-media show is any show that uses more than one kind of
communication to get a message across. For example, when the teacher shows a movie,
writes on the whiteboard, and uses the Smart Board/Promethean Board, he/she is using
three kinds of media to get his/her message across.
What's the Show About?
Your task is to produce a multi-media segment of no longer than five minutes that tells
other students what it takes to pursue the goal of attending college. You will work with
your partners to research one of the following topics (Your teacher will help you decide
which topic.):
v The Importance of Setting Professional Goals
v Taking the Right Courses in High School
v What If I Can't Afford College?
v Choosing the Right College
v What's It Like in College?
When all groups have finished their work, your class will be able to present a thirtyminute multi-media show about going to college.
How Will We Do It?
Your teacher will have some materials and some ideas about how you can research these
topics. Your guidance counselor or media specialist will also have some materials and
ideas. To find out what it's like in college, you may need to interview some college
students. You can divide the work up among your group however you like, or ask for
directions from your teacher.
Examples of presentation media
v Video
You can create a video of your assignment. You may want to use an iPad,
tablet, flip camera, or Smartphone to create your video. Check with the media
specialist to determine what technology is available at your school to record.
v PowerPoint® Presentation
You can create a PowerPoint presentation to showcase your information.
There are many templates, fonts, and other creative elements from which to
choose.
