Once the surveys are completed and results compiled, students can use the
information to design a school pennant using felt and fabric paints to be presented by
the class at a school assembly for display in a prominent area in the school such as the
media center, foyer, or cafeteria.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT:
v Seeking input from their parents/guardians, the students may create pennants that will
represent their families. The parents/guardians and students might want to select
colors and symbols that stand for their values, travels, careers, religions, hobbies,
heritage, goals, and identities. The pennants can be made of paper or cloth.

I Can Think Positively
v Invite the students and their parents/guardians to do brief presentations together to
explain the significance of the items of the family pennant. If a parent/guardian
cannot attend part of a class to do so, he might want to help the student write a
paragraph providing the explanations. This activity will provide an opportunity to
look at diversity in the class.
