Elkem ’ s Project

Execution Model ( EPEM )

General Elkem has developed a standard project execution model ( EPEM ) that applies to all projects which require approval at corporate level .
EPEM is based on best practice for project execution within the industry , but tailor-made to Elkem ’ s specific requirements and best practices .
EPEM is often referred to as a decision gate model , which implies that the project is divided into individual phases , separated by decision gates where the project status and deliverables are reviewed and where a decision will be made if and how to proceed . In Elkem , each of these phases are managed as separate projects with a project charter , a defined start and finish , specific deliverables , governance requirements and a management structure .
This methodology ensures that end results of the projects become more predictable , verifiable and easier to reference , as well as it establishes one common project “ language ” that can be referred to by all project stakeholders .
Project phases EPEM comprises the following phases , executed in the following order :
