THE RESULTS
Mount Gay
Eclipse
One word: strong.
According to our tasters, our local
variety blew the others out of the
water in terms of strength. Nearly all
of our tasters identified the world’s
oldest rum distillery as having
produced a rum product that may
have lacked sweetness but made up
for it in smoothness and strength.
Many also liked the colour, saying
that it wasn’t “too dark or too
light” but a “pretty honey gold”.
What our tasters said:
“Strong! Not that sweet.”
“Well defined and aged, I think. It
tastes older than the others.”
“Mildly spicy flavour, pretty enjoyable.”
“This one was way too strong for me.
Definitely stronger than the rest.”
R-Tic Melt’s
Vanilla
R-tic Melt’s Vanilla was our most debated
ice cream, tasters either loved it, or didn’t
like it. About half of our tasters identified
this brand as their personal favourite,
describing it as having a “traditional
vanilla flavour”, while the other half
were not big fans. Nearly all our tasters
were in agreement that R-tic’s vanilla
ice cream had the best texture and was
the densest ice cream they had sampled.
However, R-tic’s super creamy texture
seemed to be an acquired taste for some,
as some tasters felt it was too intense.
What our tasters had to say:
“It makes me feel very ‘homey’,
and tastes like my childhood.”
“Tasted of evaporated or
condensed milk. The sweetness
is definitely strong!.”
“It was a little salty for me.
Liked the colour though.”
“Bomb.”
