Women

Women's roles began to change. Women were used to working in factories and as domestic servants. In the new era, women began to work in department stores as

clerks, and phone operators. Many also got an education and started going to college. The term "New Woman" was given to describe women's change of roles during this time. Middle-aged women also participated in reform efforts.
