Dr . Samuel B . Little

Founding President CEO of NAR-SAAH

Dr . Samuel B . Little is the founding President and CEO of NAR-SAAH . Throughout his career , he has held positions in the fields of employment , public housing , research , and social services combined with university teaching and consulting for corporations seeking to increase market capacity . Dr . Little previously served as Associated Deputy Director at the Housing Authority of Baltimore City and Director of Resident Services at the District of Columbia Housing Authority .
In both positions , Dr . Little was responsible for programs providing support services to families with special needs , job training and placement , health and corporate partnerships , capacity building for resident councils , and resource development . Drawing from these experiences , Dr . Little is a frequent speaker at national housing conferences . He also has trained resident council leaders in various regions of the country .

In 2008 , Dr . Little joined The Alliance Corporation as Senior Vice President to oversee family empowerment partnerships and expand affordable housing programs globally . Much of his work was in partnership with housing development agencies in Asia , Central America and the Caribbean Islands . In addition to his leadership role for NAR-SAAH , Dr . Little is Assistant Dean and Director of Field Education at the University of Maryland Baltimore , School of Social Work .
Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Maryland , Dr . Little was an Adjunct Professor for eight years at the Howard University School of Social Work in Washington , DC . He holds degrees from Morgan State University ( BA ), University of Pennsylvania ( MSW ), and University of Maryland Baltimore ( PhD ). His research interests and publications have focused on public housing , homelessness and field education .
At present , Dr . Little is a Co-Principal Investigator for Social Work Assistance and Stipends for Housing ( SASH ) and is collaborating on research with faculty at Howard University that focuses on improving the health of urban minority athematic children living in public housing and resident council leadership . Additionally , Dr . Little is the lead author of Social Work Field Instruction in Modern Practice : A Handbook , National Association of Social Workers Press ( in process , 2023 ). Dr . Little is a member of Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore and a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity , Incorporated .
