Summer NAMM Increases Pro Audio Focus for 2018

The 2018 Summer NAMM show , held June 28-30 at Nashville ’ s Music City Center , experienced a five per cent increase in registrations with a total of 15,010 . Organizers say that while exhibitors sought to right-size their booths with fewer employees and gain greater ROI , retail dealers increased five per cent over last year , and total buyers saw a 24 per cent growth . The show counted 1,600 brands presented by over 500 exhibitors , with an increase in audio-focused companies .
There was also a significant increase in educational offering for those in the pro audio industry with NAMM U , TEC Tracks , and A3E offering more than 60 professional development sessions . TEC Tracks offered two full days of pro audio programming , including a special Studio Engineering Summit with four back-to-back sessions on the realities of studio life , featuring experienced and respected recording veterans .
On the show floor , TEC Tracks Meetups featured mentoring and extended Q & As in small groups with a variety of audio industry luminaries while the Pensado ’ s Place Pro Audio Party hosted a lively session and meet-up on the show floor .

CITT / ICTS Rendez-vous Trade Show & Conference Heading to St . Catharines
CITT / ICTS will host its 28 th Rendez-vous trade show and conference at the Meridian Centre and Marilyn I . Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts in St . Catharines , ON , from Aug . 15-18 , 2018 .
Rendez-vous offers three days of sessions , workshops , backstage tours , a trade show exhibition , social events , and networking opportunities for professionals in the theatre and live production industry . The opening day will include a course on pyrotechnics safety and legal issues and that evening will host the popular Junk Challenge . Thursday will host the New Product Show and Tell Breakfast as well as a site visit at the Shaw Festival and a tour of the performing arts centre . Friday features a tour of the Scottish Rite Theatre in Hamilton , ON , as well as conference sessions on architecture , standards , and stage machinery . The Saturday conference sessions include the Ladies of the Backstage Forum , the Education Forum , and the Sound & Audio Caucus , Staging & Rigging Caucus , and Management Caucus .
Following the show on Aug . 19 th and 20 th , Bill Sapsis of Sapsis Rigging will be hosting a rigging seminar and Rendez-vous delegates will receive a special discount . The course is for mid- to upper-level technicians and offers 14 ETCP renewal credits for certified ETCP technicians .
