Expo-Scène Brings North
American Live Entertainment
Products Industry to
Montreal
The fifth annual Expo-Scène trade show and
conference headed back to the Palais des
congrès de Montréal from April 17-18, 2019.
This year, there were roughly 1,900 attendees
from the North American pro audio, lighting,
audiovisual, video, and multimedia technolo-
gy markets. In the exhibition hall, there were
more than 80 exhibitors showcasing their
latest products and services.
The rebranded TEC Talks educational
program included presentations on signal
chains in live production, transitioning from
traditional lighting towards LED, 3D concep-
tual production design, winches and control
systems, as well as a panel discussion on
environmental responsibility in the live entertainment industry.
“We are extremely proud of this fifth edition of Expo-Scène! It was one of the biggest shows with more exhibitors – including eight new first-
time exhibitors – and more products and brands,” Monique Corbeil, CITT’s national coordinator, tells PL&P. “This year, we enhanced the pre-show
professional development training and maintained the quality of the educational TEC Talks seminars component, which drew a vast audience. We
wish to thank all our presenters, sponsors, exhibitors, and, of course, the visitors for making Expo-Scene 2019 a huge success!
Next year’s edition of Expo-Scène will return to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from March 25-26, 2020.

Global Lighting & AV Industry Converges at Prolight + Sound
The worlds of professional lighting, audio, video,
staging, and musical instruments came together
at the Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse fairs in
Frankfurt, Germany from April 2-5, 2019. For the
first time since 2015, the two trade fairs were held
concurrently on all four days. A total of more than
85,000 visitors made their way to Messe Frankfurt
while around 25,000 music fans enjoyed Musik-
messe Festival events at a variety of clubs and
hotels in Frankfurt.
Prolight + Sound offered a more extensive
professional development program and organizers
say the Immersive Technology Forum proved to
be particularly popular. There, visitors could take
part in lectures and live demonstrations revolving
around technologies for virtual and augmented
reality, immersive audio, holography, 3D mapping,
and other entertainment trends.
New this year was the Congress for Audio
Visual Integrated Systems (CAVIS) seminars. They
focused on permanent installations and gave exhibitors the chance to present relevant products and projects. There was also a new format for the
Event Safety + Security Conference (I-ESC). International experts on event safety and security discussed some of the topics currently confronting
the event and live performance industry, with opportunities for discussion and networking. As well, the trade fair premiered the new Broadcast +
Production Forum seminar program where speakers with hands-on experience presented technological trends and future-oriented projects.
