Estimated Construction Cost
This enclosure is to estimate the construction cost of the renovation project of 57/58 High Street, Portsmouth
(The Ageless Playhouse).
In order to determine the construction cost of the renovation of 57/58 High Street, the following factors need
to be considered :
• The site is a Grade II listed building
• Coastal site location, a building’s cost can vary and depend on the location of the site.
• The project type is a community project.
Below please find a precedent study for the construction cost of a similar project. Although this building and
project is on a much larger scale, it shares similarities with the design proposal for 57/58 High Street, for
example, design intention and brief. Doing this study gives an insight into the construction, refurbishment and
costings.
The John Henry Brookes Lecture Theatre, at Oxford Brookes
University lies at the heart of the building, appearing suspended in the
Forum. Wooden acoustic battens on its outside help break up the sound in
the Forum and soundproofing ensures minimal noise transfer between the
lecture theatre and its surroundings.
