The rise in the students ’ mobility caused more often interactions between the cultures . Simultaneously , intercultural competences in the era of globalization have become an essential virtue on the contemporary job market . Krakow and the universities functioning here offer the young a lot of possibilities to meet other cultures .
Krakow University
Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University was founded in 2000 as Krakow College . It received the academic status in 2009 and currently it is the biggest non-public university in the Małopolska Region . Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University educates 8,186 students in the academic year 2019 / 20 . The university offers the first and the second cycle degree programmes and the long-cycle Master ’ s degree programme , doctorate studies and postgraduate studies . Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University has a right to grant an academic degree of Doctor in social sciences in three disciplines , i . e . politics ( 2007 ), law ( 2008 ) and security studies ( 2016 ). In October 2019 the University was empowered to confer a postdoctoral degree of social sciences in the field of law .
Education is provided in 23 fields of study taught in 6 Faculties . Law , administration , criminology and social rehabilitation , international relations as well as tourism and recreation can be studied in the Faculty of Law , Administration and International Relations . The Faculty of Psychology and Humanities provides education in the field of psychology , pedagogics as well as pre-school and early school pedagogics and philology . The Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts offers architecture . Management , finance and accounting , IT and econometrics , journalism and social communication , organization of film and TV production are the fields of study lectured in the Faculty of Management and Social Communication . One can study internal security and national security in the Faculty of Security Studies . The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences offers medicine , nursing , physiotherapy , medical lifesaving , dietetics and cosmetology . The Faculty of Acting starts in the academic year 2020 / 21 . In July 2019 the University was granted a licence to provide the long-cycle Master ’ s degree programme in the field of acting and as the first non-public university in Poland joined the group of public universities educating Masters of Arts in acting .
The university realizes numerous interesting projects . It is worth mentioning the participation of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University in the international project “ Heroic Imagination Project ” ( HIP ), whose originator is the world-known social psychologist Professor Philip Zimbardo , and the objective of which is to limit phenomena of social exclusion , symptoms of lack of engagement , conformity and prejudice by creating heroic attitudes among the young . Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University joined HIP in 2015 and the first university in Poland accredited by this project .
The Faculty of Law , Administration and International Relations is developing dynamically . The faculty provides doctoral programmes in the field of law and political science , in which 140 persons participate nowadays . The high assessment of scientific achievements of the workers of the faculty allowed to gain a licence to grant post-doctorate degrees with the specialization path in law . The level of education in the faculty is proved by the results of the national exams for the legal apprenticeship . In 2019 the graduate of law from AFMKU took the second place in Poland among all the persons taking these exams .
Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University started educating students in the field of medicine in 2016 as the first non-public university in Poland . The allowed limits permit to enrol annually 100 persons for the studies in Polish and another 100 in English . Education takes place on the basis of the unique novel program elaborated with the use of experience of Canadian and American universities . Innovativeness means the connection of the content having been in various subjects so far in the modules which create the coherent whole , allowing students to look at the patient holistically as well as to understand medical problems easier in the multidimensional way . The organization of studies is based on the system of tutoring , in which a tutor / guardian provides a student with assistance and support at every stage of education .
