Triple Glazing

FORGED IN EXPERIENCE. READY FOR THE FUTURE.

Triple glazing has an increasingly important role to play as the industry looks for greater thermal performance, but the benefits of adding a third pane of glass come with a practical consideration: weight.
For installers, that can make a real difference on site. The challenge is not simply to improve thermal performance, but to find a solution that works just as well in the real world. That’ s where Keyframe UK and Regency Glass have brought their respective experience together, combining Keyframe’ s long-established fabrication expertise with Regency Triple’ s approach to making triple-glazed units lighter and easier to handle.
The result is a unit that is 30 % lighter than a standard triple-glazed unit and only around 5 % heavier than a standard double-glazed unit. It’ s a partnership that brings together established experience and new technology, with a shared focus on making high-performance glazing more practical for installers.
Here, Andy Bell from Keyframe UK explains the thinking behind the partnership and what Regency Triple brings to the market …
Making triple glazing more practical
Triple glazing has been around for some time, but the industry is still looking at how to make it work better in practice.
Thermal performance is obviously important, but it’ s only part of the picture. Someone still has to manufacture the window, deliver it and install it. If the unit is significantly heavier, that has an impact on every stage of the process.
That was one of the things that attracted us to Regency Triple. The unit is 30 % lighter than a standard triple-glazed unit and only around 5 % heavier than a standard double-glazed unit. That’ s a meaningful difference when you’ re handling windows on site.
It means installers can get the benefits of triple glazing without taking on the same weight associated with a conventional triple-glazed unit.
Performance still comes first
Reducing weight only matters if you can maintain the performance. That’ s why the specification of the unit is important too.
Regency Triple features a 0.5mm centre pane and can achieve U-values as low as 0.7 W / m ² K. So this isn’ t simply about producing a lighter unit. It’ s about combining thermal performance with something that is more practical to handle and install.
That balance is important. We’ re all looking for better-performing products, but they need to work in the real world as well as on a specification sheet.
Bringing two areas of experience together
The partnership with Regency Glass works because we’ re bringing different areas of experience to the same product.
Regency has developed the glazing technology, while our experience is in fabrication and understanding what our customers need from a finished window. That gives us the opportunity to look at the product from both sides; its performance and how it works in fabrication and installation.
For Keyframe, that practical approach is important. We’ ve been fabricating PVCu products since 1994, so we’ ve seen a lot of changes in the industry. New products come along all the time, but we’ ve always believed that innovation needs to have a purpose.
If something improves performance while making life easier for the installer, then it is worth pursuing. If it simply adds complexity, there’ s less of a reason to change.
New technology. Established values.
There is something quite fitting about bringing a new glazing technology into a business with such an established history.
Keyframe has been built on consistency, reliability and relationships that stand the test of time. Those things don’ t change because the technology does.
Regency Triple is new for us, but the approach behind it is familiar. We’ re looking at what the industry needs, working with the right people to develop a solution, and making sure it delivers a practical benefit.
That’ s ultimately what we’ re looking for from innovation. It should move the industry forward, but it should also make sense to the people using the product every day.
The technology may be new, but the foundations it sits on have been built over more than 30 years. That’ s a combination we think has a lot going for it.
