Morley Glass campaign collects and distributes over 4,700 Easter eggs for disadvantaged children
FIVE YEARS OF WINDOPLAN
Calculation built into specification
Paul Kennington, Technical Director, VEKA UK
Defining performance at the point of design
Five years ago, VEKA introduced Win- DoPlan to integrate structural and thermal calculation directly into window and door specification. The platform enables VEKA systems to be configured within defined structural and thermal parameters at design stage. Wind load can be calculated using project-specific location data and building characteristics, allowing suitability to be assessed before quotation, manufacture or installation.
Whole-window U-values are calculated based on actual configuration, distinguishing between frame and centre pane performance to support accurate thermal assessment. Automated validation checks identify oversized or unachievable designs, helping ensure configurations remain within defined performance limits before progressing further.
Supporting consistent, accurate specification
For fabricators and specifiers, early-stage modelling supports clearer decision-making. Defined performance parameters reduce the likelihood of redesign, support more accurate quotations and contribute to predictable delivery across projects.
As energy efficiency expectations continue to evolve, including the direction of travel toward the Future Homes Standard, configuration-specific calculation is becoming increasingly important. Assessing wind load and thermal performance based on actual design intent supports greater clarity and consistency from the outset.
Tools that support efficient design
WinDoPlan brings together a wide set of features that streamline specification and support day to day fabrication:
• Download Manager offering access to component drawings in PDF, DWG and DXF formats.
• Fully dimensioned cross sectional views to support detailed verification.
• Interactive 3D images for clearer visual understanding of product configurations.
• A dedicated Projects Area with templates, free text notes and fabricator branding options.
• A Free Draw area for representing bespoke shapes such as arched or circular frames.
• Area weighted Uvalue calculation to support preparation for evolving regulatory requirements such as Future Homes Standard.
• Postbox Support, giving users direct access to VEKA’ s Technical team when guidance is needed.
• Recently introduced, Fastenings Planner to help ensure sufficient fastenings are specified
Embedded within VEKA’ s wider technical framework
WinDoPlan forms part of VEKA’ s wider technical framework, developed over four decades of operating in the UK market. Modelling capability sits alongside validated testing and structured technical governance.
VEKA’ s Windows product set is independently verified as conforming to the Code for Construction Product Information( CCPI), ensuring product information is managed accurately.
Five years on, calculation-led specification is embedded within VEKA’ s support offering- providing clarity at the earliest stages of project development and reinforcing VEKA’ s role as a strong technical partner.
WinDoPlan is available for free, exclusively to VEKA partners via VEKA Edge.

Integral blinds manufacturer Morley Glass has once again taken part in an annual charity campaign which aims to ensure that children living in disadvantaged communities across Yorkshire do not have to miss out on receiving an Easter egg.
The campaign, run by the Yorkshire Children’ s Charity, encourages businesses of all types across the region to donate Easter eggs that can then be distributed by volunteers to its partner schools. Donated chocolate eggs are collected and distributed by charity supporters like Morley Glass, with further products purchased using donations received directly through the charity’ s website. This year, the campaign has provided more than 15,000 Easter eggs to children in all parts of the county.
As a long-standing supporter of the charity, the Morley Glass team, its suppliers and customers once again put in a massive effort to collect 4,784 chocolate eggs over a two-month period. This included dedicated campaigns by two organisations that Morley Glass supports and works closely with – the Leeds Knights ice hockey club and Freedom 2 Dance, an inclusive dance school in Castleford – whose contribution made a significant impact.
Morley Glass has distributed all the Easter eggs it collected to partner schools which cater for children living in some of the region’ s most disadvantaged communities – children whose life circumstances mean that they may otherwise not be receiving an Easter egg this year.
Charlotte Farrington, CEO and founder of Yorkshire Children’ s Charity, comments:
“ We are incredibly grateful to Morley Glass & Glazing for their generous donations and continued support. This campaign is about much more than Easter eggs – it’ s about creating moments of joy and building trust within school communities.
“ Every donation helps us reach a child who might otherwise go without, and that’ s what this appeal is all about – simple acts of kindness making a real difference. And thanks to the remarkable generosity of Morley Glass and its customer, suppliers and partners, we’ ve been able to spread thousands of smiles across Yorkshire.”
Ian Short, Managing Director at Morley Glass adds:“ I’ d like to say a massive thank you to all our staff, customers and suppliers for their kind donations once again this year.
“ This campaign is so important as every Easter egg we are able to collect puts a smile on a child’ s face – that is priceless. It also helps to encourage a spirit of giving and thinking about those who are less fortunate than us – values that are sometimes forgotten in the hustle and bustle of daily life. I think that’ s what makes this Easter campaign so special.”
