A new code of practice (DHF TS 012:2018) designed to raise standards of safety in the industrial door industry

The ‘Code of Practice
for the Design, Manufacture,
Installation and
Maintenance of Industrial
Doors and Domestic Garage
Doors (DHF TS 012:2018)’

industry sectors represented
by DHF and is available

Showroom
of the month
As part of the new Network
Development Programme, Solidor
has launched a new ‘Showroom
of the Month’ initiative that’s
designed to reward trade partners
who have created an outstanding
sales environment for consum-
ers.
This new initiative is open to
all Solidor customers and the first
of which to receive the coveted
award is Bristol-based Caddy
Windows, which is a family run
business founded in 1984 by Gra-
ham and Margaret Caddy. Today
their popular showroom features
25 different Solidor combinations
in a sleek and polished environ-
ment, that’s a perfect example of
how best to present premium,
solid-core composite doors.
It’s no surprise that the com-
bination of site location near a
high footfall retail park and an in-
spired internal layout, have made
Caddy Windows the stand out
choice for the first Showroom of
the Month award. In the months
to come there will be other
worthy recipients which will be
added in the ‘Find Local Installers’
section of the Solidor website.

doors by providing clear
guidance on their legal
obligation and responsi-
bilities. The code took
more than nine months to
develop and going forward,
will form the basis of the
DHF comprehensive two-
day Industrial Door Safety
Diploma course.
The DHF’s Industrial
Door Group now represents
more than 273 UK manufac-
turers, suppliers, installers
or maintainers of industrial
doors and industrial door
equipment.
“We welcome the release
of DHF TS 012:2018 and see
this as the ‘bible’ for those
working with industrial
doors and roller shutters,”
says DHF Industrial Door
Group Chairman, Dave
Lewis. “Currently, there are
too many untrained people
working in the sector and
with some of these prod-
ucts weighing up to three
tonnes, safety is absolutely
vital. If a door falls from
25-30 foot in the air causing
an accident, the conse-
quences can be life-chang-
ing for all concerned.”
“This new DHF code of
practice condenses and
refines information from
UK and European law and
standards to provide accu-
rate, clear reference an
