ARCHITECTURAL GLAZING
COUP FOR AGENCY
Architectural glazing specialist DWL
Windows, Doors and Conservatories
has entered a strategic partnership
with full-service marketing agency for
the construction industry, Purplex.
DWL specialises in high-end
projects, designing, manufacturing and installing
modern glazing solutions
for residential and commercial properties. It supplies
a wide range of products,
including minimally-framed
glazing such as structural glass assemblies and
slim-profile contemporary
windows and doors. The
business aims to scale up
operations in the self-build
and commercial sectors.
DWL managing director, Dan
Smith said: “We were looking for
an experienced partner who ‘gets’
our business and target markets.
Purplex showed us a comprehensive plan of action, and how their
in-house capabilities can turn it
into reality. Rather than servic-
es, we talked about results, and
that’s what did it for us.”
Operating from its Kent-based
facility, DWL mainly covers the
South East but has a large portfolio of national projects.
Valentina Warren, Purplex
account manager, commented:
“We’ve employed both B2B and
B2C specialist public relations, as
well as strategic digital marketing
and highly-targeted direct mail
to engage with the discerning
self-builder, and the architect and
specifier.
“Our creative resources and
expertise in videography and
architectural photography were
a major factor in DWL appointing Purplex. There are very
few agencies who offer these
specialist marketing disciplines
in-house, and even fewer who
focus exclusively in the construction and home improvement
sectors.”

Darwen Windows gets
Secured By Design
Lancashire-based Darwen Windows has attained
Secured By Design (SBD) accreditation and
British Standard PAS24 certification.
Dave Connell, Works Manager at the
company, said its products had withstood a series of rigorous physical
tests – carried out by a police-approved independent testing centre
– simulating the forces that might be
exerted by a potential intruder.
“We attended ERC Testing in Leigh – a
new UK testing house, affiliated with the
Glass and Glazing Federation and so well
placed to assess products in our industry.
Two of our windows were tested to British
Standard PAS24 for security, as well as
a series of weather tests to comply with
BS6375. The windows surpassed all the test
criteria.
“We have used VEKA systems since Darwen Windows was established, a little over
two years ago, and our MD, Bill Ainsworth
has more than three decades’ history with
the Group from his former company – our
predecessor – S&A Developments.
“VEKA systems have been highly instrumental in securing this attainment as, from
the outset, they are designed with safety
and security as priorities.”
The business will now be able to offer PAS
24 / Secured By Design-accredited products
to both trade and consumer customers.
Dave added: “It’s said that, to use SBD products in the average home costs only an additional £170 – a small price to pay for such
peace of mind, and certain to be viewed
favourably by insurance providers.”
