Impressive £800m
sales mark reached
The staggering milestone comes after Somersetbased Network VEKA member, Turner Windows of
Somerton Ltd registered an installation to take the
organisation’s aggregated sales to more than £800m.
Karen Lund of Network
VEKA paid a visit to the
installer member to present
Craig with a bottle of champagne to mark the occasion.
Director Craig Turner says:
“We only joined Network VEKA
earlier this year, but it has already
proved really beneficial to us, and
we are thrilled to have helped
achieve such a great landmark in
Network VEKA’s history.”
The organisation’s Managing
Director John Ogilvie comments: “Passing the £800m
mark is without a doubt, a great
achievement for Network VEKA
and makes a strong statement
of the quality of Network VEKA
and its members as a whole.
We know that our members
are some of the most highlytrained, trustworthy companies
in the country – and these sales
figures are the proof of this.
The growth of the Network has
not come at the expense of our
core focus on customer service
excellence.”
This was the 218,927th installation by members, since
Network VEKA was formed in
1996.

Help to Buy sees £1 billion
operation expanded
of new loans and supports
6,000 applicants in 3 months
The Trojan Group has
just announced the
expansion of its manufacturing operation in
Vietnam.
In just 12 weeks, nearly 750 homeowners have completed their
purchases and hundreds were able
to spend Christmas in their new
homes.
Less than 3 months on from the start
of the Help to Buy mortgage guarantee scheme, over 6,000 people have put
in offers on a home and applied for a
mortgage, Prime Minister David Cameron
announced.
Nearly £1 billion of
new lending
In November, ministers published figures
showing that in the first month of the
scheme more than 2,000 people had put
in offers on homes and applied for a Help
to Buy mortgage. That number has now
trebled to more than 6,000.
The mortgages, once approved, would
represent nearly £1 billion of new lending to aspiring home owners who may
have previously found the property market
out-of-reach because of the size of deposit
required.
As part of the long-term economic plan
to build a stronger, more competitive
economy to secure a better future for
Britain, the government is committed to
increasing the supply of housing and supporting those who aspire to own their own
home.
New figures also show that an additional
20,000 households have also been supported by the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme,
a separate scheme where the government
provides an interest-free loan to support
the purchase of the newly built home.
House building is now growing at its
fastest rate since 2008, and it is clear house
building will remain a critical part of our
economic recovery.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: “The
New Year is often a time when people look
to make those big life-changing decisions
like moving home or taking that first step
on the housing ladder.
“But too many people have found themselves frozen out of the market in recent
years as a result of the size of the deposit
required.
“That is why, as part of our long-term
economic plan, we introduced the Help to
Buy scheme, so hardworking people with
sufficient earnings can get on, fulfil their aspirations and enjoy the security of owning
their own home.”
Tony Chadwick, Trojan’s
Group Managing Director
said, “The additional capacity will allow us to keep
pace with growing demand for our products and
continue to keep manufacturing in-house so we
can maintain our stringent
quality standards.”
The new build expansion will give the Group
a further 20,000 square
metres of manufacturing
space. Tony Chadwick has
just returned from a trip to
the plant where he took
part in a ceremony to mark
the start of work on a new
building. Work is due to
complete in 2014.
The Vietnam plant
opened its doors earlier
this year, joining Trojan
China as the Group’s
second overseas manufacturing facility, and the
expansion is a sign of how
Trojan’s sales are going
from strength to strength.
But Tony is clear that grow-
ing sales were not the only
reason for the expansion.
Tony says, “The investment we are making in
Vietnam undoubtedly
strengthens our ability to meet our customers’
demands. It also allows us
to offer stability as all the
signs are that production
costs in China will rise in
the coming years.”
