4 | APRIL 2017 News Read online at www.proinstaller.co.uk STAR SECURITY Document Q requires secure doorsets to be fitted with handles and cylinders that meet the requirements of TS007 by offering 3 star security - as part of a PAS24:2012 accredited doorset. Three star cylinders attract a price premium, which makes them unat- tractive for many projects. However, the combination of Trojan’s stainless steel TS007 2 Star Handle plus a 1 star cylinder enables fabri- cators and installers to meet the requirements in a very competitive package. FIRST CLASS DEFENCE a clear visual ‘ deterrent ’ Tony Chadwick, Trojan Group’s managing director, commented: “The take up of the TS007 2 Star han- dle has been superb, with fabricators indicating that the product’s 2 star cylinder guard gives a clear visual deterrent compared to the more expensive 3 star cyl- inder variants as would-be criminals cannot always see what is fitted to the door.” A property on a new-build development was subject to an attempted break-in recently, following an installation of 12 VEKA windows, a six-pane bi-folding door and Matrix 70 residential door, supplied by trade fabricator The Glazerite UK Group Ltd and installed by GFT Frames Ltd. Glazerite’s group direc- tor Jason Thompson ex- plained: “The failed burglars first attempted to enter the home by removing the handles on the bi-folding door, but were faced with the Ultion Cylinder and, unsurprisingly, failed to gain entry. Ultion Cylinders acti- vate an attack lock into the central cam the moment it detects forced entry, and are approved and recommend- ed by Secured By Design (SBD), the official UK Police flagship scheme. “Having been defeated by the Ultion Cylinder on the bi-folding door, the intrud- ers then moved onto the Matrix 70 residential door, targeting the 6.8mm lami- nated glass and aluminium reinforced panel and once again were defeated. A final attempt to force entry was made through the locking jamb of the door, and the MACO C-TS top hat hook lock, which is our standard lock on all doors, did its job and kept them out. “Glazerite offers an exten- sive range of products, all covered by SBD to offer a complete security solution, unlike other fabricators where only certain items are covered. This attempted break-in only highlights the benefits of paying a small premium for SBD products to give peace of mind. In this instance there is peace of mind for the homeowner, who has only been in the property for six months, and also peace of mind for the neighbours who are for- tunate enough to have the same VEKA products man- ufactured by Glazerite and installed by GFT Frames Ltd protecting their homes.” Ian Jones, director at GFT Frames Ltd added: “We can often get pre-occupied with the aesthetic benefits of re- placing windows and doors, and forget about the safety and security features. How- ever, with VEKA windows fabricated by Glazerite, the security features are incor- porated during the design and development stage, so we have confidence when promoting these products as some of the best on the market, and displaying the SBD logo.” www.glazeritewindows.co.uk www.trojangroup.com Investment in Online Social Relations Purplex Marketing has strengthened its relationship with Google to help compa- nies in the construction and glazing industry generate more leads online.
