SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT & IMPACT EXCELLENCE AWARD 2020
The School of Business recognised Professor Teh Pei Lee with the School of Business Excellence Award 2020 for Stakeholder Engagement for not only building strong linkages with a global network of academia , and industry , but also for facilitating robust dialogues with key stakeholders in the area of geriatric healthcare .
Since setting up the Gerontechnology Lab in 2016 , Pei Lee has led the discussion on the way forward for geriatrics and technology with an annual gerontechnology symposium that brings together a global community of researchers and practitioners in geriatric healthcare . The Gerontechnology Laboratory aims to translate research into new products and services for the aging community as well as elevate dialogue with key stakeholders for a more inclusive public policy for geriatric healthcare . The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ( AACSB ) also recognised the Gerontechnology Lab as an ‘ Innovations That Inspire ’ at the AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting in April 2019 .
When the COVID 19 pandemic forced many countries , including Malaysia to a full lockdown , these measures had an unintended consequence for the ageing community . Many senior citizens who were living alone or did not have the support of caregivers were isolated and lacked the technology support to manoeuver the new normal . Professor Teh Pei Lee took this opportunity to provide support and guidance through the Tap Tech Program ( TTP ), a customised virtual training program with the focus of advancing digital literacy for seniors who were impacted by the COVID19 pandemic .
Professor Teh Pei Lee is also a pro tem committee member of the Malaysia Ageing Research Network , and through a collaboration with the Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing and Gerontological Association of Malaysia , they publised a joint statement on COVID-19 recommendations at aged care facilities .
Professor Teh Pei Lee is the Head of the Department of Management and Director of the Gerontechnology Lab at Monash University Malaysia .
