10-10 Malaysian Science , Technology , Innovation and Economic ( MySTIE ) Framework
Led by our researchers and in collaboration with Academy of Science Malaysia , the 10-10 MySTIE Framework provides a systematic approach to transform Malaysia into a knowledgeintensive economy by design . It aims to generate shared economic prosperity across the diverse ecosystems in the country and shift Malaysia up the global innovation value chain . The framework identifies 10 key Malaysian socio-economic drivers - health and wellbeing , smart cities and sustainable infrastructure , water and food security , conservation of environment and biodiversity , just to name a few - that will enable key sectors of the economy to become more knowledge intensive and innovation driven . This will enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Malaysian industries . The framework was endorsed by the National Science Council , chaired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and is being used by the Malaysian government for their Science , Technology , Innovation and Economic ( STIE ) Development plans and policies .

Rural Women Empowerment through Entrepreneurship
In a nationwide survey covering 1,300 respondents from rural communities , our researchers found that 60 % of the women interviewed stated “ not enough capital ” as a major obstacle , and 40 % cited “ lack of entrepreneurial skills ’’ as another factor . Digital technology adoption rate among women microentrepreneurs in Malaysia is still low , especially in rural communities . The research team has collaborated with a local government agency , Amanah Ikthiar Malaysia ( AIM ) to develop an entrepreneurship training program tailored for rural communities . And will measure the program ’ s effectiveness , as the findings will have important implications for entrepreneurship research , microfinance providers , and policymakers working towards improving access for women entrepreneurs and better address gender-specific entrepreneurship needs .
