Tactical Universal Clip Richard Bell reports on a U.S. innovation that could replace the ubiquitous sling The Tactical Universal Clip (TUC) System made its debut on the firearms market in late 2013 and in my view this is one of the best examples of a “sling-less” solution currently available. The system was designed and developed by a Police Officer in the USA who after years of use with a sling either for a M4 or Shotgun, felt there could be a better carry solution. I would like to state that by no means does this system not have “military” applications, but it was not who the system was initially designed for. It is currently being evaluated by Orange County S.W.A.T. and has been put through a large variety of exercises, including fast roping where comments about the “transition time” where very encouraging. Current firearms that the TUC is able to accommodate are the M4 and Solid Stock platforms. They are also going through the R&D and T&E for a variety of other platforms including the H&K G36 and MP5, UZI and Tavor, with updates on development and release of these variations over the course of 2014.
