Poetry is a language in its most dignified form. Poetry happens when nothing else can...which was this competition. It was a wonderful opportunity to express my thoughts and I would like to thank my teacher and the event organizers for making poetry be seen, heard and written. Having cleared the three elimination rounds, I reached the stage for final rendition of the literary masterpirece, a Sonnet 'Composed upon Westminster bridge' by William Wordsworth and because I fell in the senior category I had to give a justification of the poem too.

The final round was incredibly hysterical because the respectful judges had to choose the BEST of the best ( as said by A.F Harrold)

I felt elevated by the presence of Harry Baker, a simply delightful poetic mathematician whose pieces of poetry I adore. It was also a great privilege to t be there, that very rainy day in the Emirates Airlines festival of literature, at the Inter Continental Hotel where the final round was held. I won the first runner up trophy which was an honor in itself.

While waiting to perform, I could hear my heart pounding... I could hear the speakers’ impressive thoughts on poetry and I could feel the elated aura and the beauty of other people's performance. I was transgressed by interpreting poetry when a quote made me realize an epic epiphany...poetry is one thing that gets lost in translation, Poetry in fact is the reflection of one’s personality which is depicted through expressions close to heart.Reciting poetr is the sublime ‘Performing Art’. This is the equation or rule of poetry; poetry is another rarity of beauty which can only be sustained in an individual but can only be expressed …through a group of characters...a string of WORDS.
