RENDEZVOUS
Meet the Inspiration
Reading is a hobby adopted by populace in any given era, and this demand has always been met with by writers in every genre possible. But to meet the creator of such a fulfilling hobby is an experience and inspiration in itself. On 6th of March, 2016, students of Years 11,12 and 13, basked in the radiant grace of the presence of an esteemed author, Mr. Alexander McNabb. The author shared with us the key ingredients of stylistic effects, self reflective writing and the way to create a compelling narrative through PPT Presentation.
Mr. McNabb, a British by birth, has been working and living in the Middle East for 30 years. Most of his writings are centered around life in the Middle East spiced by the social and cultural flavours. Most notably, he spoke about the novels he has written in the recent past highlighting their plots and storylines. He also talked about his most recent novel “Birdkill.” Which is a psychological thriller about a woman facing amnesia who strives to remember her past and her true identity. A must read for any fan of mysterious yet gripping tales. Other noteworthy novels being “Beirut” and “Olives” set in the Middle East were something every student wanted to add to their collection.
The presentation was extremely interactive and enjoyable for us, the audience. Mr. McNabb was kind enough to answer the riveting questions we had to ask and he truly provided us with some constructive and critical advice to shape us into admired novelists of tomorrow.
