Rescue Team Back Online SES (State Emergency Service) is the largest provider of Road Crash Rescue in country areas of New South Wales. Road Crash Rescue accredited units undergo extensive training to meet the demanding skills required to undertake such rescues. Six volunteers from the Hay SES Unit completed, on 9th February, 3 months of training in Road Crash Rescue, First Aid, General Rescue Operations (PIRO), and Storm Flood and Tsunami. Hay SES Unit is now back ‘online’ (available) in times of need. Neville Reid, Graham Matthewa, Shayne Johnston, Cheryl Marmont, Jo Davies, Shane McLachlan (Trainer), Cody Patterson, Barry Scott, Nerida Reid, Front: Wendy Mitchell (Controller Hay SES). Hay SES meets every Tuesday at 7pm at the ‘Shed’ on Dunera Way. If you would like to join this team, you are very welcome to come along and find out more. All training with SES is Nationally Accredited. Due to lack of volunteers in 2012 the Hay unit became non operational and could not be called out in an emergency. During this time the Hay Fire and Recue unit took on the role as ’first responders’ and handled Road Crash Rescue activities. During January the two Emergency Service teams got together to share knowledge and familiarise themselves with each others rescue equipment. Volunteering: Give a little - get a lot.
