Legacy Ladies Farewell Gwen Ledwedge
Legacy President, Graham Young and his wife Beverley
travelled to Hay recently for a farewell to one of Legacy’s “great
workers”, Gwen Ledwedge. Gwen is leaving Hay for the big city
of Newcastle, to be closer to family. Gwen received a Certificate
of Appreciation for Outstanding Service to the Hay Widows
Club, from Russell Hutchinson (Widow’s Club Liaison Legatee)
and a beautiful sandwich plate from the ladies of Legacy. The
plate is inlaid with pictures of Hay and is a great souvenir.

Dianne Kelly, Community Service Worker (Griffith) also
attended the farwell, bringing a celebration cake. “Gwen usually
turns up with a sponge,” said Dianne, “So I thought it was only
fitting.” The cake was enjoyed with a cuppa by all in attendance.
Also leaving Legacy and Hay, Ann Black. A weeks holiday has
stretched into 40 years and Ann is moving to Albury to be closer
to her family. Legacy, CASE and Happy Wanderers will miss
Ann’s smiling face and happy disposition.
Legacy Ladies wished both Gwen and Ann all the best for the
future.
The Hay Bowling Club Handicap
Singles championship game was played
recently with Rex Thomas winning over Phill
Ruddick. This is Rex’s sixth time as Handicap
Singles Champion and he says it was a good
game with the score 100 to 79.
Anglican Ladies Lamingtons
Anglican Parish ladies had a busy time at the start of June
with lamington orders and a cake stall at the old Fire Station in
Lachlan Street. The ladies hold three cake and lamington
stalls a year and this time pre-sold 38 dozen lamingtons.
Church Warden, Edna Hanna said, “The cakes are very
popular and sell out quickly”. Keep an eye out for the ladies
next stall on the Friday before the October long weekend,
starting at 10am.
The small band of volunteers raise money for the upkeep of
their much loved church in Pine street.

CWA News
Hay Branch of Country Women’s Association (CWA) held an extra-ordinary meeting
in June to elect of new president. With the departure of Gwenda McNamara, the
position became vacant and Andrea McFarland was elected to the position.
On June 21st members travelled to an olive oil & wine tasting held by Sturt Group
(Cultural & Environmental Day) at Coleambally, and held a street stall at the Old Fire
Station on the 27th June
CWA meets at 10am, on the first Friday of every month at the RSL Rooms in the
Library complex. All women are invited to attend meeting and will be made most
welcome.
