Congratulations to
Shayne Kennedy
the first Magpie to play 50 first grade games in Group 20.
The day before the milestone League game, Shayne also
completed his 100th game for the Hay Lion’s AFL club.
Mitchell Rosser celebrated his 50th First Grade match by
crossing for two tries and land 3 goals for a match tally of
14 to bring up his season total to a neat 100.

Glenroy Shea caught up with his old football coach, Ken
Beissell, at the Magpies v Hurricanes game early in June.
Ken was instrumental in the creation of the ‘Pie in the Sky’
games held in Hay, in September each year since 2006. “I
love the place (Hay),” said Ken, “I wanted to put something
back into it.” Pie in the sky is an opportunity for local league
fans to see ex-international players on the home paddock.
In 1972 Ken played in the Magpies premiership game and
was Captain/Coach during the 1979 football season. He is
the son of Hay sporting legend Don Beissell.
With Glenroy and Ken, enjoying the game, another Hay
sporting legend - Hay Magpies Player of the Century - Neil
John Nisbet ‘The Little General’.
‘Hay Old Boys’ Mick Guthrie, Ken Beissell and Bob Krause.
Mick played in 1979, Ken Capt Coach 1979 and Bob 1984.
The ‘boys’ enjoy coming back to Hay and watching the
Magpies whenever they can.
