Val Watson, a nutritionist with over 25
years experience in preventative
health and nutrition, was speaker at
the community event ‘Eat Move Live’,
early in June.
Val talked about hidden sugar in
foods, healthy foods, portion sizes
and some of the tricks in advertising
on packaged foods.

and other gifts to children, and

called healthy packaged foods versus
homemade and fresh alternatives.

certificates and books to children who
won a colouring in competition. Vinnie
Arduino won the Preschool section.
Liz Matthews (Healthy Hay) asked parents to play the sugar game. Those who played knew coke was full of sugar but
received a bit of a shock at the amount of sugar in flavoured milks and fruit juice. Looks like water really is our best friend.
