June Bowls
Carnival
140 Bowlers played on three greens at Hay Bowling
and Services Club’s. Local teams and teams from
across the country enjoyed good weather and good
bowls.
The 45th annual June Long Weekend Hay Plains Bowls
Carnival saw 140 bowlers travel from Wagga, Cohuna,
Stanhope, Moama, Tatura Tongala, Shepparton, Manangatang,
Midlands, Hilltop, Euston, Wunghnu, and Toora.
Games were played at both the Hay Bowling Club and the Hay
Services Club over the long weekend with games played during
the day and this year twilight bowls was added to the agenda.
Winning locals over the weekend were: Garry Biggs, John
Lucas, Peter Busch and Ken Biggs - Saturday’s Men’s Fours
and the George Pounder Trophy (for best score on the day),
Maurice Whitelaw, Ross Baldwin, Les McGrath and Will Hayles
(from Adelaide) were runners up.
Pat Wood, Cheryl Ridley, Ann Hurst and June Taylor (from
Wagga) were runners up in the Ladies Fours.
Friday’s Mixed Pairs was won by John Lucas and Cheryl Ridley
with runners up Neil Nisbet from Hay and Beryl Plier of Cohuna.
