Golden Syrup Pudding
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
40 grams butter
2 cups self raising flour
pinch salt
4 tablespoons golden syrup
2 eggs
1 1/4 cup milk
Instructions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time.
Fold sifted ingredients and milk alternatively into creamed
mixture.
Grease a pudding basin or steamer. Pour golden syrup in
bottom of basin/steamer.
Spoon the mixture into the basin/steamer. Cover with greased baking paper (tied with string) or use steamer lid.
Stovetop Directions:
Put an upturned saucer on the bottom of a large saucepan. Place basin/steamer on top of the saucer and fill the
saucepan with boiling water to half way up the basin/steamer . Put lid on saucepan and Steam 1.5 hours.
Microwave Directions:
You can also make this in the microwave, use the above directions, but place the mixture in a microwave proof container
(preferably a ring cake microwave dish) – cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 7 minutes.
Slow cooker Directions:
Place pudding basin in the bowl of your slow cooker . Pour in enough boiling water to come half way up the sides of the
pudding basin. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours.
Turn out onto a plate and cover with extra golden syrup if required. Serve with custard and/or ice cream.
