Griffith Needs A Helping Hand Students from regional high schools have prepared posters supporting a campaign to establish a Headspace centre in Griffith. The posters from schools in Hay, Leeton and Lake Cargelligo are on display in IGA and the windows beside Crazy Clarks. The aim of the posters is to bring about community awareness of Headspace. Show your support by ’liking’ the headspace facebook page: www.facebook.comHeadspace4Griffith Headspace The establishment of a headspace centre in Griffith would benefit local youth by reducing travel (to Wagga or Albury) and the centre will provide an outreach service to Hay on a regular basis. Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. They help young people who are going through a tough time with general health services, mental health and counselling, education, alcohol and other drug services. Headspace caters for youth in the 12 -25 years age bracket. The headspace web site: www.headspace.org.au has resources and reading material to benefit young people and their 26 parents. Under the parents and caregivers tab click ‘find information’. Some of the material covers bullying, general parenting tips, mental health and illness, grief and trauma. Articles are easy to read and provide many helpful tips.
