HAY FAMILY FISHING CLUB WINS BIDGEE CLASSIC The Hay Family Fishing Club defended its title at the Leeton ‘Bidgee Classic at the start of March. With one Murray Cod and three Yellow Belly, the Griffiths Family team, with Eddie Hicks and Terry Pearcy had the longest length of fish winning a prize of an orange esky valued at $200. Club member Crystal Griffiths defended her Junior Girl Championship, catching a 41cm Yellow Belly by bobbing a yabby in the last session of the competition, Sunday morning. She won the Girls Longest Golden Perch, and as a Murray Cod was not caught by a junior girl, she won the Girls Championship. The longest cod for the Classic was 79.5cm. There were 25 legal Murray Cod caught over the weekend. League Tag win for Hay Public School On Wednesday 19th March Ruby League and League Tag teams from Hay Public School travelled to Griffith for the Trent Barrat Shield competitions. St Mary's and Small Schools also sent teams. All up there were 52 teams; up from 28 teams entered last year, with over 500 kids on the day there. The HPS League boys played really well winning one game, drawing one and losing one. The HPS League Tag girls team won all 3 games and have now qualified to play at the next level in Wagga on the 10th of April.
