New Year’s Celebrations Eat, sing and be merry was the order of the night at the Hay Services Club on New Years Eve. A hangi feast, cooked by Roger McGrath and served by a happy group of volunteers was followed by singing and dancing. Hay Services Club Peter Chapman, Marlene Quinn, Tony McNamara, Meralyn Pynor, Betty Hanslow and Ily Weymouth entertained themselves and those present with a karaoke quintet medley of old favourite songs. The Fijian Community entertained with a dance demonstration and a few beautiful songs. Stuffed with banana and cabbage the meat took 5 1/2 hours to cook. The hangi has become a McGrath family tradition, which started many years ago at (Roger’s parents) Les and Betty McGrath’s 25th anniversary.
