Bushy Bend was the scene for the recent launch of a DVD
which highlights the importance of education, especially
within the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander community.
Local community members tell their stories of what it means
to get an education, and the barriers of the past which
prevented students obtaining schooling.
Ray Woods welcomed everyone, in the tradition language, and
thanked those who participated in the production of the DVD.
This project has been financially supported by the
Australian Government’s Parent and Community
Engagement (PaCE) program, and developed locally
by the Intereach ~ Community Development Unit
The project was made possible with the assistance
of Hay Historical Society, Hay Shire Council,
And all Hay Schools.
An audience of around 60 people enjoyed a BBQ
tea before the screening, which took place on
the bridge pylons.
