The Hay Show Society would like to congratulate Nerida Reid on being named the 2013 Riverina Volunteer of the Year. Jill Chapman and Nerida are pictured with Lynn Dalton, CEO of the Centre for Volunteering, at an awards ceremony held in Wagga on 17th October. According to Jill Chapman, President of the Hay Show Society, “ Nerida is a worthy recipient and will now attend the state award ceremony in Sydney on the 5th December.” Volunteer of the Year Award for Nerida The NSW Volunteer of the Year Award is an annual awards program launched in 2007 by The Centre for Volunteering to recognise the outstanding efforts of the 2.4 million volunteers in NSW, and to promote the importance of volunteering to the community and to companies. Prior to 2007 there was no state-wide recognition program for volunteers. On your mark Get ready Get set GO Little A’s commenced it’s 2013/14 season with 45 young athletes taking to the track. Children as young as three shared in the fun of sprint races and learning how to throw a modified javelin. Children interested in joining the activities are very welcome to come along to the Hay Park on Friday evenings (with a parent) and register for Little A’s. Children’s birth date must be after 20th September 2010 to register. 16
