Ant Killer
Saucer or flat container
5 Tbsp of baking soda
5 Tbsp of sugar
3 Tbsp of water
The very best way of eliminating ants is truly
simple:
Take a small amount of icing sugar and mix it
with an equal amount of bi-carb soda
Icing sugar is essential. You cannot use larger
grain sugar for this.
Mix the two powders together and place small
amounts against the walls or other areas
where you would not normally walk but where
you would see the ants.
A Big Thank You
The Horse Committee of the Hay Show Society would like to
thank all the volunteers who gave their time so freely &
worked tirelessly over the two days of the show. Your
commitment is much appreciated and without your generous
support we would not be able to run such a successful
equestrian section of the Hay Show.
To our wonderful sponsors, we thank you for your generosity;
you enable us to offer fantastic prize money which attracts
competitors.
The ants will be attracted to the sugar and will
eat some of it and collect more to take home to
feed others, so all of them will get their share.
Thank you.

The sugar and bi-carb soda powders are similar in size and, once mixed together, the ants
cannot separate the two items, so, as they eat
the sugar, they will also ingest the baking soda,
which they would otherwise never touch. This
is the reason for using icing sugar.
Once the ants eat the bi-carb soda, it will react
with the formic acid in their stomachs and
cause gas. The bodies of ants, unlike humans,
cannot eliminate gas so it will build up inside
them and cause them to literally explode.
