Dads and Damper for Diabetes
Dear Sue,
Please allow me space in the Printed Post to tell you about the Happy
Wanderers 7th Annual Walk for Diabetes that we held on 1st September. We
had 50 Registered walkers who took advantage of the beautiful Spring day to
walk around Bushy Bend, Sandy Point and back to the Lions Park. We had a
Sausage Sizzle, tea/coffee, cold drinks and the very popular Damper and
Johnny cakes.
The Kids enjoyed the Hay Shire Councils Slide and the egg and spoon races.
We would like to thank the Council and Jasen and Toby Crighton for setting up
the slide and packing it up, not an easy job and very time consuming.
Dave Beckwith and Tom Marriott

The competition run through the Hay Public School and Saint Mary's of "Why my
Dad is he Best" was won by Georgina Mijok and Jenson Hargraves. Thankyou to
Robertson's Hot Bread Kitchen for the of Vouchers for the winners and to the
Judges for the encouragement awards to the other children who entered.
Thankyou to Hay Foodwork's, Jan and Brian Eames, Denise and Anthony Hyde
and Jo Schade for their donations and help. A Special Thank you to Tom
Marriott (President of Griffith Diabetes Group) for coming over from Griffith to
support our little group.
The $300.00 open order Raffle was won by Bev Edwards.
We raised $931.55 which has been sent to Diabetes Australia (Riverina Region)
which will help bring the Diabetes team from Sydney to Griffith.
Yours faithfully,
