From My Desk I can’t believe it when I hear people say “There is nothing to do in Hay.” Our town has so many sporting opportunities, organisations looking for volunteers and activities, that no one should ever be bored. This months magazine is 36 pages, our first of this size, full of as many of last months events as we could get too. There are many that we couldn’t attend. The biggest event for September was the Hay show; a full on two days of fun. I have to say, one of my favourite event is the dog jump. Watching the determination of the dogs, to reach the top, is awe inspiring. The Bushman’s relay was also interesting to watch. The event involved a course using wheel barrows, wool bales and dog food, combined with much friendly rivalry (and a bit of cheating), and a couple of mishaps, should not be missed next year, it was hilarious. As usual Anthony Slattery and his team did us all proud with a fireworks spectacular to rival big city displays. The Hay Show, in fact all events, don't happen without a lot of hard work by dedicated volunteers. The success of the show is thanks to those people who ‘lent a hand’ over the weeks and months of preparation for the Show.
