C.W.A International Day Morocco The Country Women's Association hosted their International Day in August at the RSL Rooms. Visiting members from district CWA’s as well as local guests enjoyed flavours of the African country for lunch with Moroccan Lamb, followed by Sticky Date pudding on the menu. Francie Cullen-Ward gave a talk on her Moroccan experience with a slide show. A colourful display of flags, scarves, baskets and cooking apparatus were complimented by posters by local school children. Next on the CWA agenda is the Hay Show, where members will be hosting their usual scone stand in the pavilion followed by the Flower Show in October. In conjunction with this years flower show, CWA is holding a ‘Most Outstanding Garden’ competition. The award will be judged on the 5th/6th October, from the street and all residential gardens in Hay are eligible to win. There is no entry fee or registration required, judges will be walking around the town to find the ‘Most Outstanding Garden’. Hay Shire Council are sponsoring the prize which will be presented at the Flower Show on 12th October. VP Day Commemoration Victory in the Pacific - the day Japan surrendered and World War Two came to an end. Hay Sub-branch RSL members, associates, school children and members of the community gathered at the Uniting Church for a commemoration service before placing wreaths at the cenotaph in Lachlan Street.
