Gonski Brett Bertalli, country organiser for the Teachers Federation and NSW Member for Murray Darling John Williams met with concerned parents and teachers outside the High School for a question and answer session on the Gonski school funding reforms. What is Gonski? The Gonski Review is the most comprehensive investigation of the way schools are funded in almost 40 years. Headed by respected business leader David Gonski, the review found too many schools did not have the resources needed to give every child a high quality education. The report said we urgently need to change the way governments fund schools and invest more in them. Additional funding would be invested in local schools in ways that help students learn such as: ?More individual attention in the classroom ?Extra specialist teachers in areas such as literacy and numeracy ?Greater support for children with disabilities or special needs Additional training and into the reforms, it appears remote and rural schools will benefit from the NSW Coalition governments investment into the scheme. 3
