Handy Hints Save Electricity – Save Money
Heating
Keep the room between 18 and 20 degrees for optimum savings Put on a jumper and turn the heating down Get a door ‘snake’ or draft buster to stop cold draughts Keep the curtains closed and keep the heat in Top up your insulation, no need to relace it completely
Fridge/Freezer
Fridges and Freezers can cost up to $200 per billing cycle. Check the seals on the doors. Doors need to close firmly. Check the temperature Fridges work best between 3 and 5 degrees Freezers work best between -15 and -18 degrees. Fridges/freezers run better with air circulating around them. The fuller your freezer is, the better it works. If your tuckerbox has 1kg of prawns and a packet of crumpets only, put them in the fridge – freezer and turn the tuckerbox off. Use eskies instead of a 2nd and 3rd fridge for parties. Get rid of that old, old fridge, it is costing you a fortune. If its dad’s beer fridge buy him a new one for Fathers Day Blow up ice holders also add a bit of fun to your party
Cooling

Washer/Dryer
Throw a dry towel into the dryer - it helps wet washing dry quicker. Think cold water, not hot. Full loads - small loads can be wasteful. Sunshine is free - use the clothes line.
