Now and Then A recent exhibition of local photos at Bishop’s Lodge brought history into the world of today. Photographers took photos from yesteryear and tried to fit them into today's modern settings. Pictured left is photographer Margie McClelland, Shirley Lewis, wife of the subject - Les, and Bruce Wall (who told the story of the original photo). Margie’s photo study is of Les Lewis skiing down Lachlan Street in 1961 after a major rain event. The task was to match the photo to Lachlan Street today. Bruce Wall was, according to him, the innocent driver of the car towing Les on skis. The story goes that Les approached Bruce for a bit of fun. Bruce also says, with a smile, that the police at the time were not overly impressed. The two twenty year olds were photographed and the photo has become somewhat famous in town. High School students were also involved in the project. Rachael Hutchinson is pictured right with Anne Longworth with her now and then recreation of a group of High School students, taken many years ago. Rachael said it wasn’t easy to place the photo exactly in the same position as the footpath and fence had changed a lot over the years. Sonia Gee from ABC Open explained the ABC Open web site. ABC Open invites Australian’s to share their stories. Sonia is involved in the photography side of the web site and runs short courses in rural areas. The ‘Now and Then’ project was instigated by Sonia.
